Everything was wrong.
There was no other way to put it. Everything was absolutely, utterly, horrifyingly wrong. He, he, the snake that encircled the world, the Midgard Serpent, had woken up in a human body.
The sudden shift in awareness alone was almost terrifying.
Almost.
Did they think that being trapped under the sea, doomed to hold your own tail until the end of time, did they think it wasn't humiliating and punishing enough? It wasn't enough to banish him to the mind-numbing boring eternity, no. Now they had to trap him inside this weak, pathetic, tiny human body and laugh while they watched him struggle to learn to use it.
There was only one group of people who could possibly be that they.
The Aesir. Odin, chief among gods, the one who had tossed him into the sea to begin with, this could only be his fault, his master plan. So now he was defying the very prophecies they held so sacred?
Well then. Jormungandr had never thought much of those prophecies anyway.
It took him two hours of slowly flexing each muscle, bending each joint, breathing in and out, blinking, and looking around at his surroundings, before he finally felt comfortable trying to stand. It took several more hours of trial and error and watching the strange creature walking around the house and chattering at him before he managed to succeed at walking.
He had no idea what the creature's purpose was except to chatter and be irritating. Obviously it was a human mortal, but why it had been placed here with him and what it was saying was beyond him for the moment. He could recognize its chatter as speech, and he knew that it was saying words, but it had been so, so long since he had needed to understand words that he was having trouble assigning meaning to any of what it was saying.
A pity. It might have some information he could use.
When the human entered and exited through several... he didn't know what they were called, but they opened from one area into another, Jormungandr decided to test the movements of his human body on them. It took him a few tries, but he eventually found himself...
...in direct sunlight.
His immediate reaction was to lift his hand to keep the bright shining orb from blinding him, it was so bright. He saw the sun at its full strength so rarely, it was practically a surprise every time.
Once he adjusted to the sunlight, he looked around.
Nothing looked familiar.
He was expecting it at this point.
[ACTION] If you are about on the streets this fine evening, you may run into Jormungandr, walking slowly, tentatively, and looking around him with... vague interest. Stop and chat if you like, but he isn't going to be very talkative. He may not even understand a word you're saying.
Good luck.

Hey, what's with that look on your face?

Date: 2011-06-13 12:31 am (UTC)It's another talking. Human. Thing. This one seems to be... angry? Is that the emotion?
It doesn't matter.
Though it seems to be different than the others. The one in the place where he woke up was too... happy. And the ones that called him by name, all of them, too happy.
This one is angry, which makes for a... refreshing change.
Not that it aids him in understanding it. So he'll just watch it, curious. Why is this one different?]

Date: 2011-06-13 08:33 pm (UTC)...it is.
It's been centuries since he's last seen him, but that's Loki.
Jormungandr isn't sure if this only validates his suspicion that the Aesir are behind this, or if it disproves it. It's hard to say.
He needs to get his attention somehow... and that's when he wordlessly shouts without thinking.
Oh. So that's how the humans make noise. He stops and tries to make a few more noises, slightly unsuccessfully.
This is frustrating.]

And that's when a bright and cheery drone woman passes by.]
Why good afternoon, Loki, Jormungandr! It's a beautiful day, isn't it?
[Of course Jormungandr doesn't really know what she said, and he stares after her before looking back to Loki, trying to figure out how to communicate.]

There is very rarely a point with any real meaning, in the grand scheme of things. But for short term progress, a point should be identified.
Anyway. This man, is he one of the happy people? Probably not, he's not being sickeningly cheerful like the others. Jormungandr will just observe you for the time being.]
